All teeth whitening products have their advantages and disadvantages. The Tréswhite system by Opalescence is no exception. How well does this product, the one that is regarded as a more convenient way to brighten your smile, work?

Advantages

Tréswhite is a product that is very easy to apply. It is considerably less messy than other tray solutions and other products or methods. This is true thanks to one very good reason-the fact that the solution is already loaded in the trays. All you have to do is insert your teeth into them and then wait for an hour during each application you are required.

This brightening system has a higher concentration of peroxide in it than some other brands, too. This means quicker teeth whitening results. In fact some users have noticed results in as little time as one day.

Disadvantages

This solution is available from your dentist only. There is also some concern about the main ingredients (potassium nitrate) and fluoride. Although these two agents are very helpful as far as cavity fighting is concerned, some reports have been made that these substances may not be the best solutions for the mouth. At too high of a dosage these two main ingredients could be potentially toxic.

Although many dentists would recommend Tréswhite, not all prefer it. Others might prefer recommending or using the Enlighten solution, or some other dentist-prescribed, administered, or recommended method and brand.

Furthermore, this product may be more convenient. However, there is one very unfortunate aspect of using it. Tréswhite is not a customizable tray solution. It is a one size fits all tray and this can increase chance of gum sensitivity.

Precautions

Make sure you get a dental checkup before using this or any teeth whitening procedure. This will ensure you do not have any cavities or tooth decay that has been left unattended. If you have any issues with your front teeth this could be a problem. Also, while using this system your gums and lips should be protected in some way.
